About the Team
The AP Access and Implementation team works to extend the benefits of AP participation to more students on their way to college by expanding the number of AP sections offered by high schools and building systems to support our partnerships with schools and districts. A newly created team of twelve, the AP Access and Implementation works across the College Board to support broader access, participation and success for students. The AP Access and Implementation team collaborates closely with our State and District Partnership team, Policy and Government Relations team and Growth Marketing teams to support successful implementation of the AP program.
About the Opportunity
As the Executive Director of AP Implementation, you will build new systems to support this work and facilitate across College Board teams to execute against key program milestones. Reporting to the Vice President, AP Access and Implementation, you are charged with developing evidence-based, actionable, and strategic approaches to meet the AP Program's top priorities - driving access and successful growth for the program and students. You are responsible for delivering on those approaches with the exceptional project management needed to execute them successfully. You will be a skilled system builder, creating new ways of operating across teams in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
As the Executive Director, AP Implementation, you thrive when handling multiple projects, and can adapt, respond quickly, and innovate. You possess an exceptional ability to apply and interpret data to guide decisions. As you will support multiple, simultaneous projects aimed at expanding access to AP and how the program serves millions of students, you possess a deep commitment to students.
In this role, you will:
Build new systems for the field (60 %):
Develop new systems to support schools and districts as they expand their AP Programs:
Identify and design processes that enable College Board to identify interest in AP expansion and engage schools and districts in these efforts. This will include the process and milestones needed to determine interest, convert interest into action and finally commitment and adoption.
Build a system for progress monitoring, enabling the program to track implementation and status in real time.
Develop a system to make key program information visible to our field teams and partner schools and districts.
Implement new models for professional learning for teachers.
Working in partnership with the AP Professional Learning team, develop and execute innovative approaches to train teachers.
Design approaches and monitor for ongoing adaption
Train field teams on our offerings
Build and manage intake systems for districts to offer professional learning working in partnership with the AP Professional Learning team
Ensure successful execution of these new professional learning models, including support for recruitment.
Oversee the process for acquisition of new course code process.
Manage the relevant state and districts processes to receive course codes as we launch new courses and facilitate adoption.
Develop field resources and toolkits for use in the field and in campaigns.
Partner internally and externally to develop public facing materials, brochures, and collateral.
Support the AP annual cycle (40 %)
Lead implementation of the AP annual cycle for our field teams in State and District Partnerships ensuring they are well connected and engaged with AP priorities and annual cycle milestones.
Deliver standard training schedule on AP program operations, ordering cycle and requests for information and support.
Manage AP briefings for the field teams
Support training for key operations, especially fall ordering deadlines and digital assessment rollout.
Ensure a process for collecting feedback from the field and tracking our response
Support the Unified State Strategy process. Support the state teams where we are launching multi-year partnerships to expand access to AP.
Ensure state teams have the data and support to execute against these plans.
Coordinate across the Policy and Government Relations teams as needed to support execution of these plans.
About You
You have:
At least 10 years of experience working with and in schools and districts in expanding access to educational opportunity
Proven ability to set vision and direction then manage others to meet aligned goals and metrics
Adept problem-solving skills, including using data to inform decisions and actions
