We have new transformative owners, for all those on board, it's going to be a challenging and a rewarding journey and we are just getting started. www.nacmem.org Position Purpose: Organize and conduct medically prescribed physical therapy programs for inpatients in the Rehabilitation Center to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury or loss of a body part. Helps the patient reach maximum functional performance through the administration of heat and cold modalities, individualized exercise programs and training programs tailored to meet individual patient needs. The Physical Therapist also conducts programs which are designed to prevent disease and disability. Position Duties (not all inclusive) Performs objective evaluation and re-evaluation of all patients requiring physical therapy including home evaluations. Designs treatment plans targeting each patient's needs according to evaluation results and physician requests. Implements treatments efficiently utilizing heat and cold modalities, exercise and instructional programs and hydrotherapy. Educates patients with hip or knee replacements or who have suffered a stroke on fall prevention. Assist patients with stair and curb ambulation, gait training with assistive devices. Performs and teaches LE AROM/PROM exercises, ADLs, sitting balance, wound care, trunk control, wheelchair mobility, and car transfers. Assigns and adjusts walkers to meet patients' needs upon admission to the rehabilitation center. Performs transfer training unto un-level surfaces. Ability to demonstrate proper administration of the TENS unit to patients for pain management at home. Performs ultrasounds on patients for muscle relaxation and healing. Assists with prosthetic training on BKA or AK amputees. Attends patient and family conferences, staff meetings, and chart reviews as requested. Minimum Requirements: Licensure in Physical Therapy by the State of Texas. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
